Vale Clara Jordan-Baird
Last week, we unexpectedly lost former VYL Senior Vice President Clara Jordan-Baird at 28 years old.
In spite of her young age, Clara was a Labor legend.
Clara was one of our very first Community Action Network Field Organisers; working tirelessly on the 2013 Dunkley and La Trobe election campaigns.
She served as Victorian Young Labor Senior Vice President and established the ‘Regional Road Shows’ program. This program gave Young Labor members in regional Victoria the opportunity to showcase their communities, meet local Labor activists and volunteer with local charities and organisations.
Clara worked with Tim Watts and later as a lawyer at Arnold Bloch Liebler. She was a passionate advocate for the rights of interns and young workers.
Our thoughts are with Clara’s family and many friends – she will be sorely missed.
There will be a celebration of Clara’s life at 4pm Friday 15th September at Trades Hall. The family ask that you bring a photo and write down a memory or story of Clara for them to treasure. They ask in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Western Chances in her honour.
